    Description

    Here is a Cob 8 Reales of 16th century Spain. Certified AU 55 by PCGS. Truly rare in this state of preservation, since such coins are normally found in grades VG-VF. Issued for king Philip II of Spain, who ruled, 1556-1598. The Cob is undated. Struck at the Sevilla, (S), mint with assayer, "J". Deep charcoal toning with a full obverse shield present. Reverse has a strong cross with four coats of arms in the four quadrants. Type of Calico 235. We will begin at 65.
